How do I choose the right lab-grown diamond?

A lab-grown diamond is graded on four measurable criteria: carat weight, cut, colour, and clarity. These four grades, documented on an IGI certificate, give you an objective basis for comparison before you consider aesthetics or price. Cut has the most direct impact on how much light the stone returns, so prioritise cut grade over carat size if your budget requires a trade-off. Colour grades D through G appear visually white in most settings; grades H and I are a practical choice when set in yellow or rose gold, where the metal masks any warmth in the stone. Clarity grades VS2 and above are eye-clean at standard viewing distance, meaning inclusions are not visible without magnification. The setting metal and ring style also affect which grades make sense, since a bezel setting conceals the girdle while a prong setting exposes more of the stone. Your IGI certificate confirms every grade independently.
