How should you wear an engagement ring and wedding ring together?

In most Western countries, the engagement ring sits on the left hand's ring finger, a tradition rooted in the ancient belief that this finger held a vein running directly to the heart. That convention still holds for the majority of couples today, though what happens after the wedding varies. Some people move the engagement ring to the left middle finger during the ceremony, then return it above the wedding band afterward. Others keep the wedding band on the left ring finger and shift the engagement ring permanently to the right hand. Neither approach is more correct. The practical question is fit and comfort: two rings stacked on one finger need to sit flush, which depends on band width and profile. A flat or low-profile band pairs more cleanly with a solitaire or halo setting than a domed band does. Try both rings together before committing to a stacking order.
