What is an entourage setting in jewellery?

An entourage setting places a ring of individually set lab-grown diamonds around a larger central stone, creating a frame that draws the eye inward. Each accent stone is secured separately, which adds structural precision and amplifies the light return of the whole piece. A typical entourage ring might feature eight to sixteen accent stones, each IGI-certified to the same quality standard as the centre diamond. Because lab-grown diamonds are priced more accessibly than mined equivalents, this setting style becomes a realistic choice rather than a significant budget stretch. The surrounding stones visually increase the apparent size of the centre stone, so a 0.70 ct lab-grown centre in an entourage mount can read closer to 1.00 ct face-up. The trade-off worth knowing: more stones mean more prongs or bezel walls, which requires consistent cleaning to maintain brightness. If you want maximum visual presence without stepping up in centre-stone carat weight, the entourage setting is a direct route to that result.
